Christa Hulburt Named Teacher of the Year!

Christa Hulburt teaches a self-contained K-2 classroom for students with autism at Factory Shoals Elementary School. Ms. Hulburt is entering her 4th year teaching at FSES where she also serves as the chair of the Special Education Department.

Ms. Hulburt has a B.A. in English and Special Ed. from Simmons College in Boston, MA, and an M.Ed. Teaching Students with Severe Disabilities (concentration in Deafblind Education) from Boston College.

Ms. Hulburt began her education career in 2010 working at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA as a paraprofessional and then teacher of Students who are Deafblind. After moving to Georgia, Ms. Hulburt worked as a behavior and academic specialist for students with disabilities and as a consultant for the Georgia Sensory Assistance Project.

Ms. Hulburt is passionate about helping students with disabilities find independence and happiness when participating in their schools and communities, and challenging these students to reach their highest potential.
